Our capsules work just as well as suppositories

Suppositories aren’t sexy – let’s just acknowledge that point right upfront.

Suppositories have become the darling of drug delivery scientists due to their ability to increase absorption and bypass the liver while having fewer side effects.

The thought of using a suppository for a headache, pain, anxiety/stress or to manage an illness may sound strange but the benefits out way the’ strangeness’

In a suppository, the drug is diffused like all topical forms—in a passive fashion. Rectal suppositories are the most common form, however vaginal suppositories are more targeted.

The primary use for rectal suppositories includes:

  • Allergies
  • Anxiety
  • Constipation
  • Fever
  • Haemorrhoids
  • Motion sickness
  • Nausea
  • Pain and itching
  • Seizures
  • Mental health conditions, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder

Vaginal suppositories treat localized conditions:

  • Bacterial or fungal infections
  • Vaginal dryness

The benefit of using our capsules as a suppository (once they have been sprayed with a disinfectant) is that a higher dose may be given without the possible side affects from a higher dose.

The downside is that they are mostly only used at night or if one if lying down during the day.

As can be expected the capsules contain the CBD in coconut oil  which as with all suppositories, melt at body temperature, releasing the drug into the body. However once a person stands up this could leak out and create a bit of a messy situation.

The best idea is then to use a higher dose at night and if necessary take a lower dose capsule orally during the day.

Patients that are likely to benefit the most from suppositories :

  • Elderly or infant patients who cannot swallow.
  • Epileptic patients unable to take oral medicine.
  • Patients with a blockage preventing oral medicine from moving through the digestive tract.
  • Individuals who are vomiting and can’t keep anything down.

Since suppositories bypass first-pass metabolism, they are a great alternative to medicine that is ruined in the gastrointestinal tract, breaks down too quickly, or irritates the gastric mucosa.
